SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Manager, Security Systems, the Security Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and servicing of the physical and electronic security systems for Humber College and University of Guelph-Humber. This includes the Lenel Security Systems Platform, Avigilon Video Management System, intrusion systems, and Code Blue emergency phone devices. The technician also maintains and services the Key Systems GFMS electronic key boxes. Other duties include assisting with the commissioning of security systems, equipment and device termination connections, identifying concerns/problems and resolving the issues utilizing knowledge of electronics technology. The incumbent must possess the ability to read and decipher building/system plans and drawings. They will also assists in maintaining as-built documents and records of installation on new capital projects. Preventative maintenance, regular systems checks and audits of all security systems and devices will be required on a scheduled basis. The incumbent will be well versed in the latest electrical codes, standards and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess a 2-year college diploma, in Electronic Technology or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a large facility and dealing with multiple types of technology with respect to security devices is required. The incumbent will also have sound technical knowledge of security systems and excellent computer skills. They will demonstrate an understanding of specific programs (preference to the Lenel On Guard security system and Avigilon Video Management platform). A knowledge base of access control platforms and HID card access technology is a must. Experience is also required for emergency phone systems such as Code Blue to service and repair. The incumbent must possess an electrical background for wiring, including cable pulls, installations and identification. A valid driver’s licence is also required. Additional qualifications include knowledge of CCTV systems and Electronic Access Controls. Knowledge of Lenel Access Control platform and Avigilon CCTV Systems will be considered an asset.
