Hello all,
One of the issues we are currently dealing with at Queen's is keeping people off our sports fields and gathering in buildings that are still open, these are both students and community members. The Province has given authority to Peace Officers to fine and arrest those that contravene the provincial order, our security staff do not fit the definition of Peace Officer, however we do have authority under the Trespass Act.
Signage has been placed around all our fields indicating they are closed and refer to the Provincial Order, however, we seem to be spending a lot of time telling people to get off the fields and go home.
Are other institutions having the same issues? What are you doing to mitigate the problem?
Thanks for any help you can provide,

Hi Murray,
We're seeing the same. Our Athletics Department has sent notices to all of their group and taped off the nets, but we're still seeing a few issues.
We have been sending any reports that identified students over to our Office of Student Affairs to review under Student Misconduct. I don't have a sense if they will action them or not, and the volume hasn't been to the point that we've reached out to request anything specific for follow up.
If it comes to it, we may start issuing fines, but at this point we're encouraging our staff to stick to the education piece.
