Me again.
Queen's has had some students reach out to the Dean of Student Affairs, looking for study space. Most concerns seem to be around poor internet in their homes. We have a couple buildings that are still open anyhow, and social Distancing seems to be in full effect, and other than Custodial Services having to clean more, there doesn't seem to be an issue. Of course from a security perspective, we would like to have these building closed.
Are others keeping space open for students to use? Are you seeing any problems arising from this on your campus?
Murray
Thanks Rob. We still have 200+ students living on campus, mostly international students that just can't get home. We also have a number of students living in the community without reliable internet (is that a thing?), they are the ones we see coming to campus to study and do exams.
Hi Murray,
We have closed all of our campus buildings with the exception of our Student Residence. There are no study spaces available. We are seeing an uptake on the amount of loaner computers we've had to give out. Other than that, the impacts haven't been too bad.
